Palliative Care Support Program
Hospice Northwest volunteers are
carefully screened and trained to ensure that each possesses
sensitivity, awareness and excellent communications skills.
The generous contributions of our community’s palliative care
experts ensure superior volunteer training, which conforms to
provincial standards.
Volunteers visit in homes, hospitals
and long term care facilities. The role of the volunteer is to:
listen, advocate for optimal care, assist the individual and
family to achieve meaning and satisfaction at this difficult time,
relieve caregivers, complement the role of family members, and at
all times, observe confidentiality.
A referral for volunteer visiting can
be made by anyone, providing the client is in agreement.
