Role of Volunteers

The role of the volunteer for palliative or bereavement clients is to:

• Listen.
• Maintain confidentiality.
• Advocate for optimal care.
• Assist the individual and family to enhance meaning and satisfaction in their daily lives.
• Relieve caregivers for short periods of time.
• Provide and share in activities according to the interests of the individual and family.
• Provide ongoing family support.
• Simply...be there.
