A Personal Lens on Grief is an innovative way to reflect and share your grief journey through using pictures. By sharing our grief experiences and feelings through pictures, we can encourage discussion, collaborate for change and build a community of support.

The theme of this project is: What Does Grief Look Like To You?

Participants are encouraged to take a photo that describes how grief makes them feel and what it looks like to them.

How To Participate

Take a photo(s) of a person, place or thing that describes what grief looks like and feels like from your perspective. This can be anything that represents to you what your grief means and looks like.

Participants are also asked to make a STORY PAGE ie. a brief write up of 4 sentences to explain their grief journey, story and their picture(s).

Send in your photo(s) and your STORY PAGE to Jessica at: [email protected].

Your photo and story page will be part of an art exhibit during the month of November 2023 at the Goods & Co. Art Gallery.

DEADLINE to register is October 27, 2023.

How To Attend

Photographs can be viewed Nov 10-30, 2023 during gallery hours.

Journey Through Grief - Full Day Grief Conference

Tuesday, November 14 from 9 am until 4 pm

In conjunction with the Personal Lens on Grief exhibition, Hospice Northwest services will be hosting a full day grief conference. The conference will allow participants to gain healthy coping strategies from local experts in the field. The conference will feature key note speaker C. Elizabeth Dougherty. Elizabeth is a social worker in Burlington ON with extensive experience supporting children, youth and adults facing complex illness, uncertainty and grief.

The conference will also include sessions on Traumatic Loss, Navigating Grief, Cultural Perspectives on Grief, and Tools in My Grief Toolkit.

Local practitioners in alternative therapies will be part of our vendors market. 

Must be 18+ to attend. Registration is required. There will be a $60 registration fee per person.
