Ways to Give
Hospice Northwest is a charitable organization registered with Canada Revenue Agency.
(BN/Charitable Registration Number: 11887-1011-RR0001)
All donors will receive a charitable tax receipt for income tax purposes.
While Hospice Northwest receives core funding from the North West Local Health Integration Network and the United Way of Thunder Bay, we also rely on the generosity of community donors. Donations raised through fundraising initiatives are used to assist our specially trained palliative care volunteers as they offer comfort and support to terminally ill individuals and their families, as well as provide grief and bereavement support.
There are many ways in which individuals and community groups can help Hospice Northwest ensure that we continue to offer quality programs and services to our community.
Please see the list below for ways you can help support Hospice Northwest.
Make a Charitable Gift
Memorial Donations
Donations made in memory of a loved one are very special gifts and, as such, are deeply appreciated by Hospice Northwest. We acknowledge all Memorial Donations with a personalized letter to the family of the person you are remembering. A receipt is issued to you, the donor, for income tax purposes.
In Celebration Gifts
Gifts may be made to Hospice Northwest to honour a special person or to celebrate a special occasion. A tribute gift is a great way to recognize a special occasion. It lets that special someone know that you're thinking of them and want to share in their happiness by making a contribution in their honour. Any special occasion could work. Some popular ones are: birthdays, wedding anniversaries, new births, and holiday wishes.
When you make a tribute gift of $10 or more, Hospice Northwest will send the recipient a card acknowledging your gift. The card identifies you, including name and address but does not identify your gift amount. A receipt is issued to you, the donor, for income tax purposes.

Wings of Remembrance Memorial Keepsake Ornaments
Hospice Northwest offers keepsake memorial ornaments to help you commemorate your loved one during the Christmas season. The holidays are a wonderful time of year, but they can be a particularly difficult time to cope with the loss of a loved one. These lovely glass keepsakes, tipped with 22 karat gold, are personalized by our agency with a message chosen by you. They are available in three styles: the Guardian Angel, the Wings of Inspiration Butterfly and the Going Home Dove. Each ornament comes in an individual satin lined gift box for presentation and safe-keeping.
Ornaments are available from November to September each year. They can be ordered by contacting Kathleen Buso at (807) 626-5573, email kathleen(at)hospicenorthwest(dot)ca or by filling out our printable order form.

United Way Great Billboard Rescue
Once again, Hospice Northwest staff and board members will be participating in the United Way of Thunder Bay’s largest fundraising event, the 19th Annual Great Billboard Rescue.
Throughout the month of May, our HNW team will be busy calling and gathering pledges to help raise money for the United Way.
On May 19th, all the participating teams will gather at the Investors Group building to go up on a 50 foot scissor lift where they will make their last few phone calls to request donations from community supporters. If you would like to sponsor a member of the Hospice North West team, please call the office at (807) 626-5570 to make your pledge.
